Fleet Technician
PRIMARY FUNCTION
This is a full-time position that is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance and repair of CareFlite's ambulance fleet, ensuring the vehicles are safe, reliable, and fully operational for emergency response. This role includes conducting routine inspections, diagnosing and addressing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and executing necessary repairs. Fleet Technicians are tasked with maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and modifying CareFlite ambulances to ensure they remain in optimal condition and street-worthy on a 24-hour, as-needed basis.
Installation & Maintenance: Responsible for installing and maintaining driver behavior monitoring equipment, modems, and ambulance video systems.
Technical Expertise: Demonstrates knowledge of all non-medical equipment in ambulances and wheelchair vans.
Vehicle Operation: Ensures safe operation of emergency vehicles in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as CareFlite policies.
Vehicle Logistics: Assists in preparing and shuttling vehicles for repairs and service.
Professional Interaction: Conducts all interactions professionally and courteously, positively representing CareFlite.
Time Management: Efficiently manages time to cover all job responsibilities.
Maintenance Tracking: Assists the Fleet Services Manager in tracking vehicles for service readiness and preventive maintenance.
Vendor Communication: Communicates any vendor performance issues to the Fleet Services Supervisor.
Effective Communication: Demonstrates clear and effective communication in both written and oral forms.
Teamwork: Actively promotes teamwork and cooperation with CareFlite personnel and external agencies.
Vehicle Readiness: Ensures vehicles are mechanically sound before being placed in service.
Issue Resolution: Collaborates with the Fleet Services Manager to address and resolve mechanical or monitoring device issues reported by crews.
Performance Goals: Contributes to achieving KPIs and performance goals by adhering to department standards.
Efficiency Improvement: Identifies and reports efficiency or cost-saving opportunities to the Fleet Services Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or technical certification in automotive or diesel mechanics is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, preferably with a focus on emergency vehicles or ambulances.
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Strong understanding of preventive maintenance procedures.
Ability to read and interpret vehicle schematics, diagrams, and repair manuals.
Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic tools and software.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in various conditions, including outdoors and in confined spaces.
Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
Must successfully complete the job placement assessment

Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.

Will often be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds or more.
Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Required to wear personal protective equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
